What are your favorite games? for competition and for fun.
My favorite games to play at the moment are Arena Of Valor and Final Fantasy XIV.
For watching, it’s competitive DOTA 2.
You are the leader and founder of PMS Asterisk. How did it all come about?
I used to take part in mixed teams, I was also the captain of my team of guys. We didn’t qualify for World Cyber Games, and at the same time I got an invite to play a show match on an all female line up, so I took that opportunity. We won the show match and decided to stick together as a team after that.
What are the future plans for Asterisk?
For Asterisk, we are stable in our divisions now, it’s been a little rough integrating new members with outgoing members – but things have settled down and they are working on skills and performing better in their matches and competitions.
What are the challenges/ obstacles you face as a competitive player?
The biggest challenge is accepting that you’re not good enough to go Pro at the top level, and figuring out other ways to be involved in esports, in a practical and useful way.
Competing is about 5 people, and a lot of it is timing. Everyone needs to want the same thing, at the same time in their life for it to work out, so accepting that sometimes, it’s not meant to be is hard.
Currently you are a free lance events and tournament organizer and consultant. how did that come about?
Currently I’m Employed full time in a local esports start up. I was doing freelance events previously because I enjoyed organizing events, and the community and scene was active, so events and tournaments were in great demand.
What are your future plans?
I’m moving towards the back end roles in the industry and not so much front facing work but I would still like to get back to streaming cos I miss my community.
In your own words, how would you encourage young female gamers who wish to go pro?
If you want to go pro? Don’t overthink it. Don’t think about what ifs or hows. Just concentrate on getting good. If that’s what you really want, you will find a way make it work out. If it doesn’t work out, 99% of the reason is because you don’t want it enough.
