How we score

Bananas, verdicts and zero mystery math.

Every review on Jio Play Game ends with one verdict and a banana score from 0 to 5. We picked bananas because they are easy to count, easy to remember and impossible to take too seriously. Whole bananas only, no halves, so a game has to pick a side.

The scale

The banana count equals the score, on the review card and on the review itself. A score of 0 shows no bananas, only the verdict word.

  • 5 bananas: Die Die Must Play! Clear your weekend and open your wallet, because this one is properly shiok.
  • 4 bananas: Good to Play. Steady choice, worth your money and your evenings even at full price.
  • 3 bananas: Wait for Sale. Good game, wrong price, so let the discount banner show up first.
  • 2 bananas: Skip. A bit sian, so save your time and money for something better.
  • 1 banana: Don’t Bother. Not even a big discount fixes this one, so buy a kopi instead.
  • 0 bananas: Worst shit ever. No fruit shown, only this label, so keep your time and money far away.

The one-line summary

Under every headline on a review card sits one line that gives you the gist of the review. If the review has no clear takeaway, the line tells you what the game is instead. It never repeats the verdict, because the bananas already did that job.

A score is an opinion, not a law

A score is the reviewer’s opinion of that game, on that platform, on the day it was reviewed. The score is the shortcut and the review is the full story, so read the review for the nuance. To see the best first, filter the Reviews page by score or verdict, or sort by Highest rated.

Dates and older reviews

Every review shows who wrote it and the date. If a review is edited later, it can carry an Updated date. Some older reviews go back to 2018, and they got bananas on the same scale when the site was refreshed.
